Ready Time

1 hrs

11 servings

  • 1 tbsp cooking spray
  • ¾ pound (24 ounce) mostaccioli pasta
  • 1½ pound ground beef
  • 1½ medium onion, chopped
  • 1½ clove garlic, chopped
  • ¾ teaspoon seasoned salt, or to taste
  • 1½ (24 ounce) jar cheese pasta sauce
  • 1½ (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 6 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Prepare the oven by preheating it to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius).

While the oven heats, spray a 9×13-inch glass baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Next, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.

Add the mostaccioli pasta and cook it according to the package directions.

Stir the pasta occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Cook the pasta until it reaches the al dente stage, which means it will be tender yet firm to the bite.

This step usually takes around 10 minutes.

While the pasta cooks, take a large skillet and heat it over medium-high heat.

Once the skillet is hot, add the ground beef, chopped onion, and garlic.

Stir and cook until the beef is browned and crumbly.

This step typically takes 5 to 7 minutes.

Season the beef mixture with seasoned salt to taste while it cooks.

Once cooked, drain any excess grease from the skillet.

Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and add it to the skillet containing the beef mixture.

Pour in the cheese pasta sauce and the diced tomatoes.

Stir to combine all the ingredients.

Then, add 3 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese and mix until the cheese is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly using a spoon.

Top the mixture with the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes.

Keep an eye on the bake as it cooks.

The bake is ready when the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Once the Mostaccioli Bake is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

This allows the bake to set and makes it easier to cut and serve.

Enjoy your delicious and comforting Mostaccioli Bake!
