Classic Italian Tiramisu Treat

  • 3 large eggs, separated, divided
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons brandy
  • 3 cups brewed espresso, cooled, divided
  • 3 (8 ounce) packages mascarpone cheese
  • 1 pinch white sugar
  • 45 ladyfingers (such as Savoiardi®)
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder


Separate the eggs, placing the yolks and whites in separate bowls. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, 1/2 cup of sugar, brandy, and 1 tablespoon of espresso until smooth and thick, about 2-3 minutes.

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, whip the egg whites and a pinch of sugar until stiff peaks form.

Fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture until well combined. Pour the remaining espresso into a shallow dish.

Dip one side of each ladyfinger into the espresso and arrange them in a single layer on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers and dust with half of the cocoa powder. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, and cocoa powder.

Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.

Remove the tiramisu from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving. Slice and enjoy!
